Pitalito is a key coffee-growing municipality in the Huila department of Colombia, known for its high-altitude, rich volcanic soil, and a wide variety of arabica beans that produce coffee with bright acidity, complex fruit and chocolate notes, and a sweet caramel finish. The region's farmers are quality-focused, employing modern processing methods and cultivating varieties like Caturra, Castillo, and others to create well-balanced, high-demand single-origin coffees.
Catura Excelso
Excelso EP10 Huila is a premium, high-quality coffee from the Huila region of Colombia, known for its balanced, smooth, and clean flavor profile, with notes of sweet citrus, caramel, and dark chocolate. The "Excelso" grade refers to the bean size (screen size 16/17), indicating consistent quality, and "EP" stands for "European Preparation," a quality standard for sorting out defects. This coffee is typically fully washed, grown at high altitudes, and often carries certifications like Rainforest Alliance.
Washed
Colombia is best-known for its Washed coffees. While the processing details might vary slightly from farm to farm or by association, generally the coffee is picked ripe and depulped the same day, then given an open-air fermentation in tanks or buckets for anywhere between 12–36 hours. The coffee is washed clean of its mucilage before being dried either on patios, in parabolic dryers, solar driers, or mechanically. Some Washed coffees in Colombia are mechanically demucilaged.
Colombia
For us , there’s something about Colombia.
Actually, there’s not “something” about Colombia, but many, many somethings that make this place particularly special among coffee-growing countries, and as famous. Everyone knows Colombian coffee—or thinks they do. However, to simply say a coffee is from Colombia is to tell just a fragment of the story, like recommending a book to a friend by only telling her the name of the publisher. To really get to know Colombian coffee is to travel thousands of miles, taste through thousands of cups, and wear out dozens of pairs of hiking boots touring hundreds of coffee farms from north to south. Even that’s just the beginning—but every beautiful story needs a beginning.
These bags are made in the UK from cellophane film that has been accredited biodegradable & compostable to 'BS EN 13432' and 'OK Compost'. They are also approved for Anaerobic digestion (ISO 15985) & Marine biodegradation ASTM D6691-09. The film has also been tested to ensure that once composted there are no adverse effects on the plant growth.
What is Cellulose?
Cellulose is a substance from a plants cell wall, this can be extracted from waste plant material to produce the bio film used in these bags. Once used, these bags will biodegrade producing CO2 and H2O, these 2 compounds are combined with sunlight and converted into energy by plants in a process called photosynthesis. The resulting tree growth can then be used to produce more bags.BIODEGRADATION INFO:
Our cellulose bags are fully biodegradable and compostable which means that they break down to CO2, H20 and biomass which can then be reused in the eco system to make new plants. This will happen in either in home or commercial composting but in commercial composting the temperature will be higher and the process is much quicker. In a colder home composter it will just take longer.
